Knitting Pattern for a short and comfortable summer top with a classic and sportive fit, a round neck, ribbed details and contrasting statement stripes in sizes XS | S | M (L | XL | 2XL) 3XL | 4XL | 5XL.

Structure:
The summer top is worked top down in stockinette stitch in one piece. First of all, the back part is worked back and forth in rows and along both sides, a couple of increases are worked to shape the armholes. Then, the front parts are worked separately at first to shape the round neck (and then the armholes). When the two parts are joined to the round, the front part is finished in one piece. Then, new stitches are picked up under both armpits and front and back part are joined to the round. The top is now finished in stockinette stitch in the round. The body hem, the armholes and the round neck are finished off with a 1x1 twisted ribbing for a sportive and neat finishing. But the pattern includes the option to work a contrasting edge in stockinette stitch, if you prefer this look.
The highlight of the design is the striped pattern in a classic contrasting colour combo creating a summery feeling! The comfortable fit due to the positive ease and the armhole shaping make the top perfect as an everyday companion on hot summer days!

Level of difficulty: ambitious beginners to medium level of difficulty

Materials:
Main Colour (e. g. “Kitt“): 100 | 100 | 100 (150 | 150 | 150) 200 | 200 | 200 g Tynn Line by Sandnes Garn (220 m/50g)
Contrast Colour (e. g. „Dove Blue“): 50 | 50 | 50 (100 | 100 | 100) 150 | 150 | 150 g Pure Silk by Knitting for Olive (250 m/50 g)
Please note: If you use different yarn, check the yardage to be sure you have the right amount of yarn!
3 mm circular knitting needles
1 darning needle
Stitch markers/ left overs

The second sample of the Jacques Top has been worked with some minor changes: the ribbing of collar, hem and armholes has been replaced by a rolled edging in a third colour. This means that when working the cropped version of the design, the four smallest sizes will need just one ball of each color (1 ball of the main colour, 1 ball of contrast colour 1 and 1 ball of contrast colour 2) – which makes it the perfect stash busting summer project!
Main Colour (“Kitt”): 100 | 100 | 100 (150 | 150 | 150) 200 | 200 | 200 g Tynn Line by Sandnes Garn (220 m/50g) for the long version and 50 | 50 | 50 (50 | 100 | 100) 100 | 100 | 150 g for the cropped version
Contrast Colour 1 (“Pfirsich”): 50 | 50 | 100 (100 | 100 | 100) 150 | 150 | 150 g Ecopuno by Lana Grossa (215 m/50 g) for the long version and 50 | 50 | 50 (50 | 100 | 100) 100 | 100 | 100 g for the cropped version
Contrast Colour 2 (“Delicate Orchid”): 50 g of Arwetta by Filcolana (210 m/50 g)

Knitting Tension:
10x10 cm = 26 sts x 46 rs in stockinette stitch on 3 mm knitting needles (wet blocked)

Measurements:
Bust Circumference Finished Top:
85 | 89 | 96 (103 | 110 | 117) 128 | 135 | 142 cm with a positive ease of 0 to 5 cm.
Armholes:
18 | 18 | 19 (19 | 20 | 20,5) 22 | 23 | 24 cm (they will be wider because of the relatively large number of stitches picked up under the armpits).
Length Finished Top:
44 | 44| 45 (45,5 | 47,5 | 48) 49,5 | 49,5 | 50,5 cm – the length can be adapted individually. Maybe you will then need more or less yarn.
