The Jacquote socks are inspired by a nursery rhyme by Pierre Chêne, «L’araignée de Jacquote».

The Jacquote socks are knitted from cuff down.
The socks are knitted with a simple spiders colourwork pattern throughout the leg, then on the leg and the foot a textured stitch pattern rhythm the end of the work.

It is a pattern that offers several options:
• Two different cuffs are available, a ribbing cuff (easier) or picot cuff (more technical).
• Two different heels, a traditional heel flap (see p3) and gusset or a german short-row heel (see p4). The heel flaps are knitted with a reinforced stitch pattern for durability. Instructions are given for modifying the gusset for a more generous fit.
• Two different toes are available, a simple one in Stockinette stitch (easier) or a cobweb colourwork toe (more technical) pursuing the pattern started on the leg.

Sizes
Child to adult.
Finished foot circumference (19; 20; 21) cm /
(7.5, 8, 8.25) inches including the intended negative ease of 1 to 4 cm / 0.4 to 1.5 inches.

The pattern is written for a (64, 68, 72) stitch count.

Beware, the colourwork pattern can tighten your gauge. Be sure to take this into account when choosing your needles and the size you will work.

Please be aware that adjusting the length of the socks will also affect the amount of yarn needed to finish the project.

Gauge
34 sts x 44 rounds /4 inches of Stockinette stitch in the round on larger needles, after blocking.
Please note the whole pattern is knitted in circular, so it is preferable to realize a your gauge in round.

Needles
2,5 mm / US 1 circular needles.

Always use the needle size that gives you the right gauge! Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Elle se tricote de la cheville vers la pointe, en circulaire et sans couture.
Elle se compose à la cheville d’un motif de jacquard amusant tricoté à deux couleurs, sur la jambe un point texturé simple rythme la fin de l’ouvrage.

C’est un patron qui propose plusieurs options :
• Deux types de bordures sont proposés, une bordure en côtes (plus facile) ou un ourlet en dents de chats (plus technique).
• Deux types de talons, un talon en rangs raccourcis à l’allemande ou un talon renforcé avec gousset.
• Deux pointes différentes, une pointe simple tricotée en jersey et une pointe poursuivant le motif de jacquard.
