Jade Leaf Shawl is a top down, triangular shawl, that uses simple yarn over increases, on the front and the back, to create a slightly wider than usual shawl, that allows the shawl to be easily tied in the front, worn with a shawl pin, or hang loosely over the shoulders. The staggered garter ridges create a subtle leaf like pattern, and break up the stockinette areas. The contrasting rows of the border add some visual interest, as well as a few extra inches to it’s overall width, and the picot bind off gives the shawl a feminine, somewhat bohemian charm. My shawl was knit with one skein of Madelinetosh Merino Light, at a somewhat loose gauge, along with a small amount of a contrasting color. It is a relaxing project, that produces a very versatile accessory!

Materials:

~ 1 skein of Madelinetosh Merino Light (main color)
~ 1 skein of Madelinetosh Merino Light (contrast color - will only use about 1/4 of a skein)
~ 1 #6 - 24” circular needle (or needle to get approximately 18st/4” )
~ stitch markers, darning needle.
