The Jadis Shawl is a light and lovely piece for any occasion. Drape it across your shoulders for comfort, or wrap it around for those brisk days!

Here are some useful things to note:

  • Start out with shorter US 5 circular needles until the piece becomes too large. Then change to longer circular needles as needed (I was using 31” circular needles by the end!) Detachable needles and circular cables of different lengths are especially useful for this.
  • Blocking is required for this project. I let the shawl soak in cool water overnight with a gentle conditioner added in to help loosen up the fibres. Then I carefully drained and squeezed out the water, shaped the shawl, laid it flat and pinned it in place. Air drying took about 1 day in total.
  • Just less than 2 skeins is needed to make this size, but it would also look great as a larger piece!
  • Be sure to check out the Info and Tips page (3) prior to starting.

Ethical note: while Madelinetosh states that their wool is ethically sourced in Peru, it does not account for the silk or cashmere in this blend. I had this yarn from my early knitting days when I was less educated on ethical sourcing and materials. A humane and ethical silk is very hard to find and is not necessary for this piece. Any yarn of the same weight and of other fibres will do just as well.
