Jailbird
Jailbird is a lightweight zippered a-line jacket with roomy pockets,
shaped hood, ridge details, and rolled edges. The center front is steeked
to make room for a zipper, allowing you to knit stockinette in the round
for everything but the hood. (Alternate instructions are given for
knitting flat, with no steek.) Never done a steek before? Afraid of
sewing? Especially zippers? No worries. Jailbird includes full
directions, schematics, and photo tutorials for all this scary stuff you
haven’t tried because you were afraid you’d mess it up.
Skills you will need: knitting in the round, basic increases and
decreases, mattress stitch, and grafting stitches. All other unfamiliar
techniques will be covered.
