Don’t forget Williamsburg and Yorktown! :-)

When visiting Jamestown a few years back, I watched a fishing net making demonstration. It entailed a basic wooden frame from which several pieces of thin rope were dropped from a horizontal bar, each line’s being tied to a rock to keep it weighted down. They would then tie them together creating a beautiful open mesh netting that they used for fishing. The Williamsburg cowl incorporates basic lace stitches using a thin yarn with very large needles to emulate the look of those nets and as such, these cowls, or infinity scarves, are far larger than the Williamsburg and Yorktown cowls and can even be wrapped around your neck a second time for added warmth.

Tip! This pattern uses almost the entire skein of 463 yards. If using a skein with less yardage, do one of two things: either decrease the number of repeats (see instructions for Rounds 11-75). Or, as an alternative, you can make a slightly smaller version by casting on fewer stitches. (Number specified inside pattern)
