Jamila Shawl
by Kay Gardiner
This is a basic, striped rectangular shawl inspired by the traditional shawls worn by women in Afghanistan.
The sample uses 2 yarns (Rowanspun DK in dark blue and Noro Silk Garden Light) in alternating 18-row stripes of stockinette and reverse stockinette. The ends of the shawl are finished with a gently undulating garter ruffle. The ruffle adds weight to the ends, helping the shawl stay in place when worn.
