Geo One, as the name suggest is a geometric pattern which is repeated throughout the shawl. Hopefully the first in a range of geometric shawls.

This pattern involves knit and purl (plain, flat knitting what ever you want to call it) ….. For the edging yarn overs and a couple of knit two togethers, but that all.

For the shawls I do add the option of creating a ‘lace’ pattern edge. This lace pattern helps reduce the roll that we all dread, and I think it looks great. Therefore I would recommend that you consider using this option.

You will be working with two colours, you knit with one colour for two rows, then the other colour for two and repeat. I do nothing special when I change over the yarns, I am just consistent in which yarn I put over the top of the other and carry the yarn up the side.

I use 8ply (DK) when knitting these patterns. But the choice is yours, obviously gauge of yarn will alter the finished size, as long as the two colours are the same gauge. Also you can use what ever you want, acrylic, wool, blend or cotton. It depends on what you want to use the final product for and of course what you like. I created the shawl pictured with 8ply yarn, Fiori DK HDIV 100% Merino yarn, available from www.jamo.store the finished measurements of the piece being 2m along the longest side and 80cm from the point top the top, or course this will be dependant on your tension, the needles that you use and your yarn.

In 8 ply I used the following, as a gauge, but it will depend a lot on your tension as to how much you will use. The yarn I used was 100% merino with an on packet gauge of 22sts per 10cm.

Colour A - 350g (700m) approximately

Colour B - 350g (700m) approximately

I would strongly suggest you have 4 x 100g skein to account for tension changes (basic pattern).

As well as the basic pattern we also have the option of different shapes and sizes, for the more adventurous among you.
