The Jan Meyen Shawl is inspired by the sea and by whales. Jan Meyen is a norvegian volcanic island in the artic ocean. From the sky, the island which is partly covered by glaciers is mostly white surrounded by the blue and green sea.

YARN
Worsted yarn - approximately 780 m ( 850 yards)
for a 1m85 long shawl, with a width of 90cm

I knit the sample version in the Gilliatt base from De Rerum Natura. I used :

• Almost 450m/500yards of ‘Baleine Bleue’ (blue),
• 150m/160yards of ‘Poivre et Sel’ (creme)
• 180m/200yards of ‘Cèdre’ (green)

17 sts x 26 rows in stockinette stitch in 5mm/ US 8 needles

Le châle Jan Meyen est inspiré par la mer et les baleines. Jan Meyen est une île volcanique norvégienne dans l’océan arctique. Vue du ciel, l’île partiellement couverte de glaciers est majoritairement blanche et entourée d’une mer bleue et verte.

pour un châle de 1m85 d’envergure et 90cm de profondeur

J’ai tricoté ma version dans la laine Gilliatt de De Rerum Natura. J’ai utilisé :

• 450m de ‘Baleine Bleue’ (environ 2 pelotes)
• 150m de ‘Poivre et Sel’ et
• 180m du coloris ‘Cèdre’
