We used sport weight yarn and the following colors for our Janez and Petrushka; we encourage your creativity while selecting colors for your pair.
Materials for Petrushka:

Other Materials:
- Crochet hook #F or O
- Small tapestry needle
- Polyester fill
- Stitch holders (optional)
- 2 sets dpns (see Gauge)
Gauge:
The directions are written in rows, not inches, so if you choose any of the following gauges your work will become proportionate.
- #2 dpns/sport wgt yarn 6 sts = 1”
- #1 dpns/fingering wgt yarn: 7½ sts = 1”
- #4 dpns/worsted wgt yarn: 5 sts = 1”

10½ dpns/ double strand worsted wgt yarn: 3 sts = 1”
NOTE: Carol has knit one with a double strand…he stood almost two feet tall!
Janez and Petrushka are precious. They are a bit more detailed than the earlier friends, reflecting their heritage. Like Sven and Solveig, Bridget and Paddy, Fritz and Liesl and the Gingerbread, one begins knitting at the top of the head, finish at the bottom of their feet and like the others, you’ll find them seamless.
