I learned to crochet, so that I could make myself a vest like Janis Joplin’s, because I couldn’t find one to purchase. After much searching, I couldn’t find a pattern already written that was close enough for me, so I had to make my own, and now I’m sharing it with you!

Although the written instructions go to XXL, there are instructions to customize the width of the back to whatever size you are.

The gold rush yarn is the closest I could find to the sparkly shiny gold in Janis’s vest, but technically you could use any fingering/sport yarn. Just stay loose and have fun with it!
