Jan's easy prayer shawl
This shawl is an adaptation of my wash cloth pattern that works into an easy and beautiful triangular prayer shawl.
SIZES: Can be made to whatever size you wish.
MATERIALS
Yarn: Any weight, self-striping or solid, soft wool or blend that you like – approximately 400 yards. I used 3 skeins of Noro Ginga that I bought at David’s Yarn. It is self-striping and I left enough to work a scalloped crochet edging. Choose any colors you love to work with. Note: The second orangey variegated shawl is made with Yarn Bee Andes Alpaca on size 11 needles (13 if you are a tighter knitter). I used 2 full skeins for the shawl and into a 3rd for the edging.
Needles: Size 8 or 9 needles if working on a worsted weight yarn or size 11 and up for bulkier weight yarns.
Size H to I crochet hook
TENSION/GAUGE: Varies depending on weight of yarn. This project works best knit loosely. My finished gauge after blocking on a chunkier yarn is approximately 2.5 stitches per inch.
APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS: Approximate dimensions of the shawls pictured after blocking are: 58 inches from tip to tip and 28 inches from triangle point to the top edge of the shawl.
