Japanese in Tunisia
I have always loved the Tunisian “Ten-stitch”-pattern: you usually use it to create blankets (I have crocheted one myself: https://www.etsy.com/hookloopsarah/listing/268589879/), but it is one of the most complicated patterns around, in my opinion! This is one of the reasons why I decided to write my own pattern and make it as simple and clear as possible. You will tell me if I succeded!
NOTE 1: you can crochet many other projects with this method: pillow covers, rugs, and the famous “ten-stitch-blanket”, too!
NOTE 2: you can make a crossbody, shoulder or handbag by simply changing the length of the handles: the typical “stiffness” of the Tunisian stitch makes it particularly suitable as bag.
This pattern is in ENGLISH and uses standard US crochet terminology and abbreviations.
FINISHED SIZE: 30.5x32 cm (12”x12.6”). Longest handle: 20 cm (8”). Shortest handle: 12 cm (4.7”)
YARN: 115 g (3.9 oz) / 388,5 mt (425 yds) of fine or super fine, 3 or 4 ply yarn. I used TESSILAND “Kate” clr Cielo. Drops “Delight” series will do, too.
GAUGE: 11 sts / 5 cm (2”) - not necessary for this project
HOOKS: 3,5 mm (9-E4). YOU DON’T NEED A TUNISIAN HOOK! A normal hook will do, too.
