This simple knot bag fascinated me when I first spotted a beautiful version made from vintage kimono fabric.
I just had to see if I could replicate the smooth curves and interesting knotted loop closure.
This is a medium size bag carried with your hand through the large loop and the bag hanging down. The large loop passes through the small loop to close the bag and the felt folds gently to give the great curves.
This bag is knitted in Filz (felting) wool which will shrink when washed to create a thick felt fabric.

Felted size- 25 cm / 10” wide x 20cm / 8” high
Strap length approx. 24cm /9”

Yardage 4 x 50g/50m balls

Rico Creative Filz
If you wish to use a substitute yarn: –
Cascade 220 ( held double), Feltro, Twilleys Freedom wool, Grundl filz wool these all work well.
Hand wash not superwash or man made fibre blends .
If using a substitute yarn your project may felt to a different size

You will need-
5 x Double pointed Knitting needles 8mm (UK 0 /US 11)
60cm/24” circular needle 8mm (UK 0 /US 11)
2 x stitch markers

Basic skills and abbreviations used in this pattern
r = row
k = knit
p = purl
R = Round
kfb = make 1 stitch by knitting into front and then back of the same stitch (increase)
k2tog= knit the next 2 stitches together (decrease)
stst = stocking stitch / k 1 row , p 1 row. Makes 2 rows
M1 , M2 = marker 1, Marker
sl, k1,psso=slip 1 st, from left onto right needle, knit next stitch ,pass the slipped st over the knitted st.

SUITABLE FOR- Confident beginners or Intermediate knitters. If you can do stocking stitch and follow a pattern I explain the rest as you go along.
