Japanese Wonder is a crescent shaped shawl created using Japanese lace motifs. The shawl is knit in two colors, the Main Color is a light shade to highlight the lace stitches. The Contrasting Color is a dark shade used for the garter tab cast on, a divider between the two lace designs and the lace edging.

The edging is knitted on in a unique lace pattern.

This pattern incorporates bobbles, a common stitch used in Japanese knitting. When knitting this shawl the bobbles can be replaced with either beads or nupps, depending on your preference.

The “wonder” of this pattern is the simplicity of the pattern with only two standard increases (kok and m1R) and three easy decreases (cdd, k2tog and ssk). This makes the pattern quite simple to read. Due to this fact, the pattern is charted only.
