Create a sweet jar of hearts display feature with this crochet pattern. The pattern includes instructions for the little stuffed hearts, plus the lace doily style jar lid.
These would make lovely home decorations and you could even make them scented by simply adding fragrance oils. They would also make great table display features for weddings and could double as wedding favours, guests could take a heart each as a keepsake at the end of the day!
You can use any yarn weight to make your stuffed hearts, I recommend varying the sizes and colours to create more interest to the display. The hearts only use a small amount of yarn each (less than 6 yards), so this would be a great project for using up your scrap yarn!
Exact gauge isn’t too important but you want to keep your stitches compact, so if necessary, go down a hook size than recommended on your yarn.
For the lid, I recommend using DK (Light Worsted) weight yarn, but Worsted weight would work too. You can use any type of yarn, I have used Acrylic.
You will need:
A glass jar with opening diameter of approx. 3”,
A variety of yarns in any colours, type, or weight for the hearts (small amounts approx. 4g or 6yds per heart),
Any type of White yarn in DK or Worsted weight for the lace lid,
A 4.5mm hook for the lid and hook sizes recommend for your chosen yarn weights or smaller for the hearts,
Toy Stuffing (polyester fibrefill),
A stitch marker,
Yarn needle & scissors.
Optional:
Ribbon - you can just use yarn if you don’t have any ribbon.
Fragrance/Essential oils (if you want to make a scented display)
