Jasmine Leg Warmers
Jasmine Stitch Leg Warmers
Great for learning the Jasmine Stitch: This project is intended for intermediate crocheters and up. You need to know crochet terminology, the basic crochet stitches, and how to read a pattern. However, you do not need Jasmine Stitch experience to dive in!
If you this is your first time working the jasmine stitch, I recommend being very kind to yourself. The way you crochet is unconventional and learning it takes time - and some trying and failing. With patience, you will get there – and it is totally worth it!
If you want to learn the stich with a smaller project first, you can get my best starter pattern for free HERE when signing up to my email list.
Size and Measurements:
Height: approx. 47cm (18.5”)
Width, circumference: approx. 28cm (11”)
If you follow the pattern without any adaption and hit gauge, the leg warmer will fit calves measuring about 35cm (13.8”) (Measured around the largest part of your calf, just below the knee). See page 4 for how to adapt the pattern to fit your measurements.
Yarn: 200 grams (4 skeins) of Air from Drops Design or Kos from Sandnes Garn (Length/weight: 150m (164yds) /50gr (1,8 oz)), or other worsted weight/10 ply yarn types. If you use other yarn types or create wider or higher leg warmers, you might need more yarn.
Hook: For the Jasmine Stitch part, use a 3mm hook. Use a hook significantly smaller than what you would normally use for your yarn. This is to make sure the flower centers remain small. You need hook 5mm and 7mm for the ribbed edges.
Gauge: 10cm x 10cm (4” x 4”) corresponds to 5 petals and 5.5 rounds of jasmine stitches (about 2cm / 0.8” per horizontal petal). The length of the petal loops decides the gauge and the size of the leg warmers – not the hook size you are using.
Also needed: Scissors, tape measure, stitch marker, and a yarn needle.
