“From plants that wake when others sleep, from timid jasmine buds that keep their odour to themselves all day, but when the sunlight dies away let the delicious secret out to every breeze that roams about.” - Thomas Moore

Welcome to Stacey Namaste Designs. This shawl is part of my Finding Joy series. ”Joy is not a constant. It comes to us in moments - often ordinary moments. Sometimes we miss out on the bursts of joy because we’re too busy chasing down the extraordinary moments.” ~Brené Brown. This series was inspired in order to help us recognize the joy in the little things and ordinary moments that too often pass us by.

This asymmetrical triangle shawl is designed to provide the maker agency, choice, and variation - you can use any yarn, any size, any color scheme. The 100% cotton yarn I chose creates a light and airy garment that flows beautifully. For tips on styling, visit this site: 10 ways to style an asymmetrical shawl

This design, the Jasmine Trellis Shawl, was created out of excitement that my jasmine vines had finally bloomed. When we moved to our new home, every spring, we would enjoy the amazing delicate jasmine fragrance throughout our entire back yard, wafting up from an entire wood wall that backed a deck. One day, the wood just gave in - it had become so heavy from the vines that it collapsed. No matter how hard we tried, we couldn’t untangle the jasmine. I went a few springs without that early spring scent signaling a gorgeous season of hope and renewal. I finally planted a trellis and jasmine, but it was right after spring, so it took a year before I got to enjoy the blooms. I chose the yarn colors based on the spring colors and foliage that had begun popping up in our yard.

The photographed example is in a color gradient yarn, Hobbii Dahlia Color #07 Mystery Day, 25 stitches to 34 rows for 4,” needle size 4. This yarn comes in a 200g skein, I used the whole skein for this project, which creates a flowing shawl that I like to wear like a scarf. Feel free to use less or more to create a smaller or larger item. With Dahlia, you can also pull and start from either of the color schemes. You will need size 4 needles and a smaller size cable needle.
