Jasper Cat Safety Collar with ID Tag Ring
Welcome to the pattern for our Jasper Cat Safety Collar with ID Tag Ring. This pattern features an ID tag attachment and is intended to be used to make a breakaway safety collar (highly recommended).
You can purchase the 8 page written pattern in our Ravelry store and view the accompanying video tutorial on the Catventurous Crochet YouTube channel. Charlotte & Melba wish you happy crocheting!
CROCHET LEVEL:
Suitable for beginner crocheters with knowledge of basic stitches and techniques and above. Some elements, such as attaching hardware (clasp and D or O ring), may require more advanced beginner to intermediate skills.
MATERIALS:
- Any strong, durable, non-stretch fine yarn or material that can be crocheted such as mercerised or waxed cotton, polyester, nylon, macrame cord, craft twine/string, paracord, etc.
- Small gauge crochet hook (I used 2.5mm)
- Smaller gauge crochet hook or blunt needle to loosen loops
- Sharp yarn needle
- Safety release clasp
- D or O ring, 10 - 15 mm diameter (optional but recommended)
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
STITCHES/TECHNIQUES:
- Slip knot onto hook
- Chain st.
- Single crochet (SC)
- Attaching and securing hardware
- Working into the ‘side loop’ in a row (explained in the pattern)
- Accurately sizing the collar to your cat’s neck circumference
- Tying off using your preferred method
- Weaving in and securing tail ends
IMPORTANT: These collars are intended to be practical, stylish and fun for you and your cat. For their safety, please supervise your cat at all times while they are wearing this collar or any other item that secures around the neck that does not feature a safety breakaway clasp. Never lead a cat on a leash that is attached to a collar. When on leash, a cat should always wear a harness that distributes weight and force away from the neck.
