These socks are knit first and then the bird’s face is added by duplicate stitch and some left-over yarn. They can be worked in any color that the bird should look like in the end. I chose yellow eyes for a (not too) fierce-looking hawk, but it can be changed to a brown-eyed snow owl or any other bird in an instant. The possibilities are endless.
The pattern is written for a child aged 5-8 but the pattern can easily be sized up or down because the repeat is only 4 stitches.
They use up very little yarn in total, it is necessary, however, to keep in mind that the extra yarn for the embroidery later is needed.
