Robust men’s sweater in Léttlopi, Small, Medium and Large

The rune sweater is knitted in the round. You start at the bottom and knit the body in one piece. Then you make the sleeves. For the yoke, you put all the stitches on a long cable. You raise the back piece with a number of shortened needles that continue into the sleeves. Then you start on the rune motif. For this you use the fair isle technique.

Garnet red 50 (50) 100 g

Runes are magic
The runes were used as an alphabet, but also formed a magical system with predictive powers. Combined in bindrunes the signs get even more magic. In the sweater for Jean I combine the runes for courage, strength and protection.

The rune sweater for Jean is part of MICCA, a collection that pays tribute to the many victims of the witch hunt. In Europe alone, more than 100,000 alleged witches were burned at the stake. Mostly women, but also men and even children.

Jean Cauche, nicknamed Brandon, was one of the victims. He was 66 years old when he was accused of witchcraft. He spent 47 days in prison in Mons (Belgium). After an exorcism by the priest in Acren - apparently without success - Jean was strangled and burned in Enghien.
