Jeanius Cowl
The perfect accessory to wear with your favorite 👖
I fell in love with this stitch while working on my Sunshine State of Mind Shawl and knew it would make the perfect cowl. So I grabbed 2 terrific colorways from Emma’s Yarn Super Silky base: Denim and Mom Jeans and quickly knit up this Jeanius Cowl.
I hate being cold so I make my cowls to fit snuggly on my neck. This design can be knit to any length and can be adjusted in width by adding multiples of 6 sts. I think it looks fantastic in a DK weight yarn (see testers’ cowls)! Note that yardage will vary if using a different yarn weight.
I used:
Yarn: Emma’s Yarn Super Silky (80% Superwash Merino/20% silk, 400yards/100grams)
Main Color (MC): Denim - 150 yards (dark blue)
Contrast Color (CC): Mom Jeans – 150 yards (light blue)
It was so addicting that I made one for my sister for Christmas using a yarn she picked out at My Sister Knits (see the irony)! Her choice was: Spincycle Dyed in the Wool - Devilish Grin, making this perfect for a gradient yarn too!
Needles: 4/3.5mm 16” circular needles
Notions: Stitch Marker (optional), T-pins and blocking wires for blocking
Gauge: 30 sts = 4 inches in pattern after light blocking to maintain texture. Although gauge is not crucial for this project, it will affect the finished size and yarn requirements. A looser gauge will result in the use of more yarn.
Finished Size: 11” high x 18” around after light blocking to maintain texture.
Stitches used: knit, purl, slip stitches, 1/1 LC, 1/1 RC done without cable needles (instructions included)
Check out my amazing testers projects, a few of them were addicted too and made extra cowls!!!
