Jean's Cowl 2
Jean’s Cowl 2
Knit this sweet, beaded cowl for yourself or a loved one. It’s easy and fun adding beads to your knitting with this quick method. String the beads onto the yarn before knitting. The pattern has extensive beading instructions.
Jean’s Cowl 2 is an updated version of Jean’s Cowl, named after my mother.
The cowl is approximately 5” deep x 38” in circumference. Gauge: 5 sts./in. 9 rows/in.
The piece is knit flat, on a diagonal, with selvage edges and seamed with a “fake” three-needle bind off. (See instructions below)
This version was knit with an interesting, brand new yarn. The yarn is silky soft and luxurious. I’ve made it a little wider and longer, adding a few more beads.
Although, I love the yarn for this project, many smooth-stranded dk or light worsted yarns will also work in the design.
One more thing: You all know how much I love knitting with beads, and if you’re are not a bead fan, just leave them out. The design works well with or without them.
I hope you enjoy it!
