This is the digital PDF pattern for the crochet Jebel Button Up. It includes detailed written instructions as well as photos. You will also get access to a PDF with a lookbook! This contains photos and some useful info from the lovely people that tested this pattern.

The pattern is most suited for intermediate level crocheters and up!

This gender neutral button up shirt is the perfect summer staple, it’s light and airy and has a nice drape to it. It’s super comfortable to wear and fun to make!! Be aware that this is quite a big project and it will require both time and patience to make, but I promise that it will be worth it in the end :)

SIZES
This is a graded pattern, meaning that there are instructions included for 9 sizes. These sizes are based on measurements from the Women Size Chart by the Craft Yarn Council and represent chest circumferences of 71-158 cm (28-62 inches). The shirt is meant to be oversized with positive ease in the range of 21-30 cm (or 8-12 inches). The width of the shirt can easily be adjusted by going up or down a size, while the length of the shirt and the sleeves are fully customizable.

MATERIALS

  • Crochet hook 3.5 mm
  • Fingering weight yarn (I used 100% cotton)
  • For sizes (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) you’ll approximately need: (1240,1440,1782,1980,2178,2376,2574,2772,2970)m of yarn, but this will depend on the material you choose and how long you want your shirt to be (it’s based on the shirt being approximately 64-68 cm (25-27 inches) long).
  • Suggestions for yarn: Mandarin Petit from Sandnes Garn, Rainbow Bamboo or Rainbow Cotton 8/4 from Hobbii
  • 6 buttons of your choice (approx. 2 cm (0.8 inches) in diameter
  • Sewing needle and thread to match your buttons/shirt
  • Blocking board/towels and pins
  • Stitch markers x 6
  • Measuring tape
  • Scissors

STITCHES (US TERMS)

  • Chains (ch)
  • Single crochets (sc)
  • Half double crochets (hdc)
  • Yarn over slip stitches (yoslst)
  • Slip stitches (slst)

GAUGE
10x10 cm or 4x4 inches = 20 stitches x 14 rows
The gauge swatch is made using hdc+sc and yoslsts. This stitch combo is explained in detail in the pattern.

ADJUSTMENTS

  • Length of the shirt and the sleeves are fully customizable and are adjusted by making less/more chains.
  • Width can be adjusted by going up/down a size.
  • Other materials than cotton can be used, but be aware that it might behave differently during blocking (stretch less/more) and the amount of yarn needed might be different than recommended.
