Remember MASH and the hat Radar O’Reilly wore? This cute variation on the beanie was originally designed by the US Army for WWII to be worn under their metal helmets. This version is knitted in the round and a bill stiffener is inserted into the folded brim to create the bill or visor. It can be knit in fingering, DK/Sport, or worsted weight yarns. Instructions are given for all three! It’s a wonderful hat and easily knit up in your favorite color. I’ve knit two for myself and two for my husband and he’s requesting more. One for every outfit’s color scheme.

This pattern is in American English.
Print at 100% scale on Letter or A4 paper

The PDF Instructions are six pages including photos and a pattern for the bill stiffener.
