Jeepers Jersey
Designed to mimic the look of iconic 1960s cycling jerseys, the Jeepers Jersey has all the aesthetics of a vintage sport knit but with the comfort of an everyday garment you won’t want to take off! This quarter zip pullover has slim-fitting, nearly elbow-length sleeves and multiple fit options. The front and back are worked seamlessly to the underarm, and then worked flat to the shoulders and joined with a 3-needle cast-off. Stitches are picked up for the sleeves, which are worked seamlessly in the round to the cuff. Finally, stitches are picked up and knit for the stand-up collar. This pattern will also give instructions for how to install a zipper into a knit (it’s way easier than you think!) and how to duplicate stitch embroider your own fake vintage branding for the perfect final touch!
It is important to me that this pattern is financially accessible and so for low-income customers, this pattern can be purchased at 33% off using the code ‘LOW33’ and at 50% off using the code ‘LOW50’. Jeepers includes 2 views: one with no hip shaping (Straight View) that mimics a more traditional ‘menswear fit,’ and one with hip shaping (Hip Shaping View) that is designed to create more room in the hips for those of us who have a more bottom-heavy shape! There are instructions for both sleeveless and short-sleeved options. At the chest, there are optional short rows which can be added to accommodate breasts. This pattern is graded using ‘women’s’ sizing charts and is designed with a wide variety of cisgender women’s shapes in mind. This is also a perfect pattern for trans men or other folks who have had top surgery and want a well fitting garment through the shoulders and hips without sacrificing style. This style is totally unisex and should also fit a lot of cis men and other people who usually use ‘men’s’ sizing charts, but be aware if you have particularly broad shoulders this may not be the pattern for you.
The body of the pattern is made with 2 ‘main colours’ bordering an off-white stripe for ‘branding’ across the chest. For a super nice true vintage aesthetic, the ribbing is worked in stripes using the off-white and a contrast colour. Of course, it is totally ok to use any colours you wish, but I highly recommend using off-white, white, beige, super light, or undyed yarn where off-white is indicated for best design effect. You are welcome to change colours wherever you would like, but instructions are given for your off-white stripe to be proportionally fit to your body from bust apex to 4 rows before the zipper.
The duplicate stitching charts included have the fonts scaled at a 4 different sizes (A, B, C, and D) to allow for flexible design choices no matter what size you are knitting.
Choosing a Size:
Choose the size that most closely matches your upper chest/bust measurement: Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4) (5, 6, 7) (8, 9, 10)11 will fit upper chest measurements of 67.5 (77.5, 85.75, 93.75) (102, 110, 118.25) (126.25, 134.5, 142.5) 147.5cm / 27 (31, 34.25, 37.5) (40.75, 44, 47.25) (50.5, 53.75, 57) 59in. If you would like a more casual fit (shown in orange and yellow sample photos), you may wish to size up by one size.
This is a negative ease garment. If you choose a size larger than indicated, the garment may not fit the way you expect.
To measure your upper chest/bust measurement, place a tape measure around your body underneath your armpits at an angle and keeping arms relaxed at your sides.

Choosing Shaping:
To choose which view you will work, you should consider your own body shape. If you are relatively straight up and down or smaller in the hips than in the chest, you should work the Straight View, but if your hips are larger than your chest, you should work the Hip Shaping View.
If you have very large breasts, and often feel the front of your garments are shorter than the back, there is also the option to work short row shaping over your chest to add length at the front only. This shaping is available in 5 cup sizes, adding 3 (6, 9, 12) 15 cm / 1.25 (2.5, 3.5, 4.75) 6 in
You will also be able to choose between a sleeveless style with a ribbed cuff or a short sleeve style. This is entirely down to preference.
Size 8, Hip Shaping View, sleeveless version with Cup size 2 is shown on a model with an upper chest measurement of 50”. The same sample with one arm each of the sleeveless and short sleeve styles is shown.
Yarn:
Indie Yarn Club ‘Happy Feet’ (100% superwash Merino, 365m / 399yds per 100g) in colourways ‘Koi’ (MC1), ‘Golden’ (MC2), ‘Folk Jade’ (CC), undyed, and ‘Navy’ (embroidery)
Gauge:
28 sts and 40 rows/rounds per 10cm / 4in in stockinette stitch worked both flat and in the round using 2.75mm / US 2 needle.
Needles:

Ribbing Needle - 2.25mm / US 1 or size 0.5mm smaller than Main Needle in your preferred lengths for small circumferences worked flat and in the round (I used 12in / 30cm)

Main Needle - 2.75mm / US 2 or size needed to obtain gauge in your preferred lengths for small and large circumferences (I used 32in / 80cm for large circumferences, and 12in / 30cm for small circumferences)

Folded Hem Needle (short sleeve version only) - 4.5mm / US 7 in any length for the folded hem cast-off on the sleeves.

Ribbing Cast-off Needle (sleeveless version only) - 4mm / US 6 in any length for the folded hem cast-off on the sleeves.
Yardage:
Your yardage will differ depending on your shaping decisions. You can use the tables provided to help you determine how much overall yardage you require. Add the yardages together for your preferred shaping, cup and sleeve options to get your total yardage requirements for MC1, MC2, Off-white, and CC.
