Jelly Fish Babies
’Jelly Fish Babies’ is a smaller version of my original ‘Jelly Fish Friends’ pattern giving a size ideal for a small toy that can easily be popped in your bag, hung over a cot/pram or from a baby gym, attached to a carseat or you could make several for a mobile!
The head/body and tentacles are worked from the top down in one piece then the lower body overhang added.
With the suggested yarn and hook the jelly fish is about 4” across and 7” long but it would be very easy to adjust the length of the tentacles.
Depending on the colourway of the yarn, some was classed as a chunky & some as a super chunky - my examples used between 38 & 43g (37 to 46m) - so I can easily make 2 from one 100g skein.
This makes a great stash buster project for using up partial skeins and a quick make for a gift or item for a charity stall.
You can add an embroidered face - I used crocheted eyes for mine - 6sc into a magic circle with Scheepjes Catona & a 2.5mm hook, invisible join, white thread highlight.
Using a thinner yarn (and corresponding hook) you could make a keyfob/zipper pull/bag decoration.
Please link your finished projects to this page - I’d love to see how your Jelly Fish Babies turn out!
