This is a pattern for a jellyfish hat, crocheted in the round with tentacles worked separately and sewed on.

Any medium yarn can be used, hand spun or bulky would give a different texture but can still be adjusted for a good fit. Gauge is not very important as the brim can be adjusted for perfect fit.
