Jellyfish Mittens
When is a fish not a fish? When they’re a Jellyfish of course!
They were on this earth way before fish even existed. Seemingly fragile, they can be found in every ocean, warm or cold, deep or shallow, happily digesting solid creatures that you would think would be too tough. Inspiration for the Blob maybe? Terrifying alien and strangely beautiful, Jellyfish are a fascinating motif to knit up on mittens.
Are you a knitter looking for that pattern where complete strangers come up to you and say “Oh my god, where did you get those mittens!?!” And you can smile and say “I made them!” Or maybe you know a knitter who would love a funky new pattern added to their collection… because all knitters have a specially curated stash!
This Jellyfish mitten knitting pattern is recommended for intermediate knitters familiar with reading charts and stranded colorwork. The pattern is on a downloadable PDF digital file available immediately upon payment and includes instructions and easy to follow design charts.
One of the great things about Jellyfish is that in real life they can be just about any color so you can’t go wrong! You can knit these mittens in any two contrasting colors in the yarn of your choice. They work really well with self striping or hue changing yarns. Both mittens pictured were knit using sock / fingering weight. The white mittens using US size 000 / 1.5mm needles for a Women’s Medium size and the black mittens using US size 1.5 / 2.5mm needles for a Men’s Medium size. You could easily adjust to fit using any size needle in between those 2 sizes.
Mittens are fun and easy to knit up in a short time and make excellent custom gifts. Who wouldn’t want hand-made-by-you Jellyfish mittens, made just for them in their fave colours!
