This skirt was inspired by a skirt I found in a catalog. The first version I knit was for my older daughter when she was about 4. I shared pictures with some friends, one of whom asked me to do another version, in another color scheme, for an older girl of 12. Using simple mathematics, these versions can be made for any size.
This pattern includes charts for both versions/color schemes of the chart. Written instructions guide you through the simple recipe for creating a custom-sized garment.
These skirts are worked from the bottom up. You will need to knit a gauge swatch to determine the number of stitches to cast on. Yardage will vary greatly according to size. For a size 4 girl’s Spring skirt, I used one ball of each color in the Shine Sport.
Please note that in the Spring version, I broke the traditional rule of Fair Isle that requires no more than 2 colors in each row. For the Autumn, I kept the rule.
