Jepken Vest
Inspired by a type of a traditional Turkish waistcoat (cepken), this easy to make, one-piece baby vest features a shawl collar.
Construction Notes:
Jepken Baby Vest is made with beginner friendly, easy stitches - double crochet combined with double crochet variations through front and back loops. This adorable little vest is worked all in one piece, no sewing needed - except for the buttons.
It’s worked bottom up starting at the hem, then adding stitches to form the front, armholes and shawl collar.
A Cepken (pronounced as Jepken) is one of the traditional pieces of clothing in Turkey in which the shape and materials differ from region to region, or era to era, from a sleeveless short and tight fitting vest to a glamorously embroidered velvet or silk bolero, now adapted to a stylish and eye-catching baby vest with a shawl collar.
