Note: mittens require approximately 90 yds of each color.

These toasty, rustic mittens are named for the jessant-de-lis, though they feature the more commonly known fleur-de-lis. Complicated looking but quick to execute, the motif is surrounded by a simple diamond pattern, with ribbing, gusset increases, and finger decreases neatly integrated into the colorwork.

A fitted cuff stays tucked securely inside the sleeve of a coat, while extra stitches over the hand allow plenty of warmth to be trapped inside, for maximum coziness.

Tension issues that can come with knitting colorwork in a hurry are efficiently obscured with a soft, tweedy yarn, making these easy to work up as a last minute gift.

Part of the Little Gifts collection; pattern is a 5 page PDF, with both charted and written instructions, and a full page photo tutorial on the two color braided cast on.
