This scarf is worked in moss stitch, cables and bobbles to give an intricate design that looks far more complicated than it is. Fringes always seem to tangle in the washing machine so it has a knitted edging that looks something like the end of a jester’s hat, complete with bells! The edging is worked separately and then sewn on.

Scarves are easily adapted to individual requirements. This pattern results in a scarf 76 by 7 inches (193 by 18 centimetres) wide, including the “jester” bobble edging that is 3 1/2 inches (9 centimetres) long at each end. However, it is possible to make it as long or as wide as you like.

The knitted sample used 220g of acrylic yarn on size 4mm needles

The pattern is supplied as a PDF which includes full photographic instructions for making the “jester” bobble edging and attaching it to the scarf.
