This is a quick, deliciously smooshy cowl made from three different weights of yarn. It wraps your neck in warm comfort, with a dash of color. You can follow the pattern exactly, or you can “freestyle” the upper half of the cowl, adding different stitch patterns as you please.

The cowl is made with one skein of super bulky merino yarn for the bottom half, and one skein of bulky/chunky alpaca (or other bulky) yarn held together with a fingering or light-fingering weight yarn for the top half. You will use all of the larger weight skeins, and about 120 yards of the fingering yarn, so this project is a great way to use up leftover sock yarn.

This version is made in Cedar House Yarn’s Windfall Super Bulky in Midnight on the Mountain; Eden Cottage Yarn’s Whitfell Chunky in Natural; and Eden Cottage Yarn’s Milburn 4-Ply in Wicker. You will use all of the larger weight yarns, and about half of the fingering weight.
