This simple yet sophisticated cowl has an inset panel of beaded mesh. It would make a great gift!

Because it uses less than half a skein of sock/ fingering weight yarn, you can get two cowls from one skein or use the leftovers in your stash. Most sock or fingering weight yarn should work well, but I don’t recommend using fragile fibres such as cashmere due to the weight of the beads.

The cowl as written uses about 500 size 6 glass beads, but can easily be modified to use less. Simply reduce the length of the beaded panel or add a bead to every other stitch in the mesh, rather than every stitch.

A provisional cast on and Kitchener/grafted closure is included in the pattern for an invisible seam. However a regular cast on and bind off may be sewn together to achieve an acceptable result.

This pattern has been tested and tech-edited. It also includes links to demonstrations of techniques used in the pattern.
