Jigsaw Shawl
Have you ever picked up a skein of yarn and just fallen in love with it? That’s what happened when I found MooRoo’s Moonbeam. It’d been a long day of wandering around a fibre arts fair, and I was on the hunt for a skein with some silk in it. Finally, right as I was about to give up, there it was. Silk and merino, super squishy with just the right amount of shine, and I was hooked.
Since coming home to Australia, I’ve also had the pleasure of discovering Blackwattle Yarn, so I was delighted when I found out that they had a wool and silk blend too. I just couldn’t resist trying the pattern in their yarn as well and it’s just as gorgeous as the original.
It was coming up to summer when I designed this, so making a shawl was strange. But I wanted to see what I could make with one skein of the yarn and given how shimmery it is, it seemed like it would be perfect as a little kerchief shawl for those days where you just want a bit of bling. After that, I couldn’t resist making it a big sister for Autumn, so you can make one of each size and use them all year round!
This pattern comes with both written and charted instructions for the lace, so it’s a great one for learning how to read charts. All Oliphant Kat patterns are written with both Australian (metric) and US (imperial) terminology.
