Jill Women's Brioche-Tuck Pullover
This pullover will keep you comfortably warm and yet isn’t bulky thanks to the half brioche rib stitch panels. Further, in this fabric a variegated yarn has a stunning effect.
I reworked the pattern after hearing the recommendation of brioche world authority Nancy Marchant to go down a needle size in brioche panels placed in garments. True! It yields a firm fabric with high stitch definition. On the flip side, the knitting takes more time. But then again, half brioche is a faster knit than classic brioche and there are some stockinette panels as well.
The pullover is knitted in the round from the bottom up. Body and sleeves are worked as separate tubes from the lower edge to the armholes. Then the pieces are joined and knitted in a tapered tube. There is only a small seam under the armhole to sew up after the knitting is complete. Waist and crew neck shaping are added for a tailored fit. Together with the raglan shaping this gives the sweater good structure and stability to always make it hang straight.
For your convenience, there are separate instructions in an attractive layout for each size (36, 38, 40, 42, 44 and 46). You may find my full descriptions easier to follow than the standard brief and cryptic ones.
For women who desire elegance in daily life.
