Jina Vest
Pattern will be available Wed 22.07.2024.
Difficulty Level: ★ ★ (2 out of 5)
Sizes: S - M - L - XL - XXL
Instructions: The vest is crocheted from the bottom up. The lower edge and body are worked in rounds on the right side, then divided into back and front yokes, which are worked in rows back and forth, i.e., on the right and wrong sides.
Hook Sizes: 3.5 mm and 5 mm (or the size needed to achieve the gauge)
Stitch markers needed.
Yarn:
- Yarn 1 - for the lower edge of the vest:
Drops Baby Merino (100% merino wool, 50 g/175 m) from Drops Design.
Or another fine, 5 ply yarn (sport, baby/weight 2).
- For the body of the vest: Double strand - Yarn 1 together with:
Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk (77% alpaca, 23% silk, 25 g/140 m), which is an aran/worsted, medium weight, 10 ply yarn.
Or Drops Kid Silk (75% mohair, 25% silk, 25 g/210 m), which is a lace, light fingering 2-3 ply yarn.
These two yarn types (Brushed Alpaca (10 ply) and Kid Silk (2 ply)) are very different, but you will achieve the correct gauge using one of them together with Yarn 1. Depending on your gauge, you may need to use a smaller or larger hook.
If you prefer to use a single strand, you can use aran/worsted yarn (10 ply), such as Drops Air or even a 12 ply yarn, like Drops Melody. But make a swatch before starting to ensure you achieve the correct gauge.
Gauge:
- 20 fpdc with 3.5 mm hook and Baby Merino = approx. 10 cm width
- 16 - 17 rnds of fpdc with 3.5 mm hook and Baby Merino = approx. 10 cm height
- 1 pattern group (see diagram), 5 mm hook and double strand = approx. 5.5 cm width
- 8 - 9 rnd with pattern, 5 mm hook and double strand = approx. 10 cm
The pattern includes:
- Gauge
- Written instructions
- Some picture explanations
- Abbreviations, explanations, and much more
- Diagram
- Video links to stitches
This is a crochet stitch pattern that can become quite addictive and is actually quick to crochet.
