This hat pattern is worked from the top down, in continuous unjoined rounds.
Baby = 6-18/Months Adult = Fits most adult heads.
Each stitch is worked into the third loop of the HDC including the last row of SC when crocheting the wire into the hat. See Photo A.
Use a stitch marker for the first stitch of each RND and move up each RND.
Place a stitch marker into the last stitch of each section just in case you need to frog, and leave there for the entirety of the pattern. (After the flat top of the hat is finished, before starting the bucket & into the last stitch of the bucket, before starting the increase for the brim). See Photo B.
Measure the bucket before starting the brim by laying the hat flat and measuring from the top to the last row. Buckets should measure: Baby 6”/Adult 8” - See Photo C.
Crochet the galvanized wire into the last row. When about 10-20 STS remain, lay the hat on a flat surface. Spread the hat so that the brim lays flat against the surface. This will prevent the brim from curling. Trim the wire so that the ends meet. Use a wire crimp to connect the two ends. See Photo D.
