Jo doll
I designed this doll so that it could be a doll with which a little girl could play safely and for this I wanted the body to be a whole piece without any sewn parts, ALL SEAMLESS, hair and clothes included and in this pattern I will explain the method I found to get this result.
Do not be frightened it is an easy and practical method, the only most laborious part is the head but with my super detailed instructions and videos tutorial even if you are at your first amigurumi you will certainly manage to do it, in any case you can choose between the various variants that I will list or you can always contact me.
As the project progresses, you will find many solutions and tricks that will allow you to adapt your work based on your level of crochet knowledge, which is why this pattern does not have a predetermined level of difficulty because I wanted a doll with which to play that all the grandmothers, mothers and aunts of the world could do, not only the most experienced.
You will start with the legs, joined the two legs then it is the turn of the bust, after which there will be the union of the arms and then continue up with the shoulders, the neck and the head.
The real novelty of this pattern is in the head.
In all these years I have always been looking for a method to simplify the processing of the amigurumi head and to have all the safety given by the absence of seams and in the end I found it and I will talk about it in detail in the appropriate section.
At the end of the doll you will find yourself with the body already completed of hair, you will no longer have to make a wig to sew on the head or to cut the wool strands etc etc, this job will no longer be necessary and so you will have a doll really a whole piece without taking into account the processing which will be much simpler and affordable for everyone.
Furthermore, this will allow you to solve the problem of keeping your head, the head is well proportioned and can support the weight of the hair and therefore no internal metal support is needed.
I advise you to stick to the number of locks indicated and not to add others because otherwise problems could arise in supporting the head.
As for the eyes I have embroidered them with embroidery thread and in the dedicated section you will find how to do it and above all the exact position in which to make them. I chose not to use plastic eyes as a matter of safety (because over time they can come off) and quality of materials but in this case you can do as you prefer.
This pattern fits easily into any yarn, I only recommend using a smaller number of crochet hooks than the one you usually use for the yarn you have chosen (in my case I usually work the Catania cotton with a 2.5mm crochet hook but for the amigurumi I use the 2 mm one) however always do before some tests to determine the appropriate number of crochet hook according to the way you work. In any case, for amigurumi be careful to apply a higher tension to have a sufficiently narrow processing.
Made with the following materials and the right tension the doll will be 25 cm high.
MATERIALS:
★ Catania Schachenmayr cotton yarn ( 50g ~ 125 m / 1.75 oz ~ 137 yds): pink n° 263 ( 2 balls ), brown n° 157 ( 1 ball ), red n°115 ( 1 ball ) , white n°106 ( few grams, you will need it for some details on the dress), , black n°110 ( few, only for shoes and the belt ). ( more info here );
★ Gold yarn “Anchor Metallic” ( 25 g ~100m) ( 80% viskose, 20% polyester) ( more info here )
★ Crochet hook n°2 mm
★ Polyester fiberfill
★ Embroidery thread DMC Mouline n°25: black 310, white, green 3347
