This Square has been designed for A Square a Week Challenge, where we introduce a new square every week. This is a teaching/learning group and we only have one request, at least one – just one of your blankets made be donated to charity. We started the 2018 challenge with squares designed by a very talented South African designer, Joanita Theron. We loved that all the squares had the same granny square theme and that the stitch counts were the same – this meant joining the squares would be easy. This square is inspired by Joanita’s Crochet a Block Afghan 2017 Crochet Along (CAL) and is therefore called Joanita’s Compass Rose and the name was chosen by a fellow squarie (i.e. a member of the Square a Week Challenge Group), Sandra Rawleigh. The stitch count is consistent with Joanita’s squares.
