The Joanne Shawl is a top-down triangular shawl, featuring a cabled center and simple lace pattern.

If you are an OCD knitter that NEEDS to know exact yardages and gauge…. sorry…. Hopefully my other features will make up for that. I have set the pattern up so you can easily print only the pages you need instead of mixing graphics and minutiae in with the important stuff. I have provided both a chart and the line-by-line instructions. I have also included a bonus row/repeat tracking chart on the last page, if you find that kind of thing helpful.

Skills needed: Chart reading (or not…), basic knitting, yos, cables, provisional cast-on (link provided).

The pictured shawl was done with lace weight on US Size 5 needles and used a smidgen more than 500 yds. It is 16 repeats after the initial 24 rows of the chart.

Yarn: Your choice! This pattern works best with anything from a DK to lace, although I’m confident that it would look great in worsted, too. Also, a small amount of scrap yarn in the same weight, but contrasting color, for the provisional cast-on.

Needles: A crochet hook for the provisional cast-on. Long circular needle in a size appropriate for your chosen yarn. I recommend going anywhere from 1-3 sizes larger than the needle size suggested on the yarn label.

Notions: 2 stitch markers, needle for weaving in ends, pins and/or blocking wires.
