Joey Pouch
UPDATE NOTICE:
Joey Pouches & Pouch Liners
We are currently being inundated with offers of handcrafted pouches and items for wildlife. We now have far more than we can use so we are longer able to accept any of these items.
We usually accept pouches for orphans all year round, so if you have already made them, please feel free to contact us again in a few months time once the bushfire supplies have been distributed to see what we will need for Spring.
Thanks for your generosity and understanding.

This pattern is the Wildlife Victoria Joey Pouch Making Guidelines.
The pattern also includes instructions for pouch liners for those who sew.
Please check the website to see if Wildlife Victoria are currently accepting donations.
I make these pouches for wildlife found or brought to me to give them a safe place before they are transported to a carer / vet.
Please note: The measurements in this document are approximates. A variety of sizes will suit for a variety of animals, so feel free to make them larger or smaller
Instructions are in 3 sizes (small, medium or large) and the pouch has a drawstring top.
Any ply of yarn are suitable but the 5 ply and 8 ply are preferable.
Pouches can be knitted in garter stitch or stocking stitch and as colourful as you wish to make them (a good way to use up yarn left over from other jobs).
Material: Pure wool
Needles: Size 8 needles
Approximate size:
Small - 16cm square
Medium - 24cm square
Large - 30cm square
Size can vary depending on type of yarn used and tension of the knitter
