John Watson Bear Christmas Jumper
This version of John Watson’s Christmas jumper should fit most 15” tall bears (similar to Build-A-Bear bears). Please let me know if you find any corrections or have suggestions! :)
About the increases
Many folks have asked questions about the increases; this can be a confusing part of the pattern, for sure. The chart at the very bottom of the pattern shows where and when to increase, but it is not written out in the directions. For example, round 1 is a repeat of 2 stitches, so is round 2, but then round 3 is a repeat of three stitches, so the increase happens in row 3 so that you will have the right number of stitches for row 3. You will increase one stitch for each repeat of the pattern in certain rounds (rounds 3, 4, 9 and 10). Since there are 24 repeats of the pattern in each round, you’ll end up adding 24 stitches to those increase rounds. As you go along, make the increases where they make sense for the color changes for the following row. The type of increase doesn’t really matter, so you can use whichever increasing method you like. This is the most difficult part of the pattern, and I ‘m still not sure I’m describing it clearly; I had to redraw that chart three times to get it to work! I hope this explanation helps!
