This Jolly Holly Headband is knitted in the round, using a circular knitting needle or set of double-pointed knitting needles, depending on your preference, so there is no seam and only knit stitches are required for the colour work holly section. The pattern contains a chart for the holly motif and has full instructions included for the Latvian braid border. Some experience of fair isle, Icelandic or stranded colour work knitting would be helpful for this pattern, though not essential.

Materials:
Alafosslopi or equivalent Chunky/Bulky yarn:
Actual amounts of Alafosslopi used are listed, but please use this as a rough guide, given that different brands may differ slightly. The yardage of the yarn used was 100m/109yds per 100g.
Green - 26g White – 22g Red – 13g

Knitting Needles:
One set of 4 double-pointed knitting needles, size 6.5mm (US 10.5) Alternatively, you may use a 40cm or 60cm circular needle in this size, if preferred.

Measurements:
One size will fit most. Finished measurement is approx. 22.5ins/58cm circumference, without stretching. Depth of headband is 5ins/12.5cm.

Tension:
Approximately 13 sts and 15 rows to 10cm. It is a good idea to check your tension and adjust your needle sizes accordingly, before knitting your headband.
