Jon Shawl
Meet the Jon shawl! He’s constructed in a similar way to the Maurice and Cecil shawls and designed using beautiful colours from BirdstreetYarn.
He had to be named after Jon – one half of lovely owners of BirdstreetYarn. He’s a large crescent shawl worked in a simple and fun but effective knit/purl texture.
The design is knit tip to tip avoiding rows with lots of stitches. The main colour and the contrast mini skeins are striped to create a concertina effect with garter and reverse garter stripes. I have a feeling you’ll want to knit more than one!
Yarn: 400m fingering weight in colour A and 5 x 80m fingering weight minis or 400m in one colour.
Sample1 was knit using BirdstreetYarn Beachcomber Reimagined set.
Suggested Needles: US 4/3.5mm or needles required to get gauge.
Gauge: 27 sts x 46 rows to 10cm/4” over stitch pattern blocked; gauge is less important in a shawl, however, if your gauge is looser than specified more yarn will be required.
Measurements: 185 cm/74” wingspan, 37.5cm/15” depth
