This easy, baby bonnet knitting pattern is quite well suited to beginner knitters.

It works up using approximately 58 meters (or, about 64 yards) of your favourite DK weight yarn on 4mm (US6) needles for the newborn version (more for the larger versions).

This pattern also contains instructions for 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months and 9-12 months bonnets, as well as instructions to knit an i-cord brim and ties or wide, knitted ties.

The Jonah bonnet is worked flat on straight needles, or a circular needle, whichever you prefer working with. You will need to know how to cast on, how to work the knit stitch and the purl stitch, how to yarn over and how to knit two together.

This bonnet would make a lovely addition to your photography prop stash or as part of your prop shop inventory, or as a gift to a new photographer friend.

My gauge: 22 sts and 28 rows = 10 x 10 cms.
