“A wave gets bigger an bigger. I want to make sure that… when I leave, the wave is big enough to keep going on its own.”
– Jonathan Pitre (2000-2018)
This hat was designed in loving memory of Jonathan Pitre. Jonathan was a fierce advocate and ambassador for Epidermolysis Bullosa, the most painful disease you’ve never heard of. He wanted to make a difference and wanted to inspire… which he did, and just like the wave, continues to inspire today. To find out more about EB, please visit www.debracanada.org
This design is great for a beginner as the pattern is created with purls. Please knit these up for your favourite charities or to give to someone who needs a little extra love and warmth in their life. A Fair Isle version instructions are also provided for more advanced knitters at the end of this pattern.
This hat fits an average head, 21 to 23 inches. It is customizable by removing or adding 10 stitches. You can also make the beanie fitted or slouchy, customizations are included in this pattern.
