Joseph's Scarf of many colours
Joseph’s Scarf of Many Colours
This is a pattern I made up for my husband- he decided on the colours and grid and I just knitted it for him. As he is someone who doesn’t wear woollen things (he is so hot blooded!) I consider it a triumph that this gets taken out each winter and he proudly tells everybody that I made it.
It is a reversible scarf. I originally knit this straight, folded down the middle and sewed up the edges using intarsia and about 10 homemade bobbins. At the time I knit this I wasn’t so skilled in knitting in the round but you could easily do that just reduce the stitch count down to 120 and discard the extra stitch knit at the beginning and end of the chart.

Finishing
Block the scarf out to required dimensions.
Turn inside out so that the RS is inside.Fold in half & mattress stitch across top, down the long edge & part way across bottom leaving a space of 1 square.
Turn right side out so seams & end inside tube. Stitch ends together.
If you have knit this in the round then block the scarf to the right dimensions. Cut a piece of card to the right dimensions and insert in the scarf tube – It is a method of blocking I believe for Shetland lace scarfs.
Turn inside out so that the RS is inside. Mattress stitch the short ends leaving a space of 1 square on one edge.
