This is a hat pattern inspired by the hood of the Traveler in thatgamecompany’s video game “Journey”.

It is sized for a large adult, but since the repeat of the colorwork is small (only 8 stitches) it can be easily sized up or down by adding or removing repeats.

The yarn used to knit the prototype was Caron Simply Soft, which afforded a soft, very flexible fabric. Using a wool yarn ought to stiffen the fabric and give it a bit more body.

It is worked in the round with a facing that is turned up and knitted into the work as you go, avoiding sewing it up later. There is no shaping, and the top is closed by a three-needle bind off.

The colorwork is simple, and would be a great project for a beginner.
